Spain. Why Spain? Why do I even speak Spanish? Thank my madre for that. :) Te amo! I never thought I would use this Spanish that I would learn beginning in Kindergarten. But luckily, it has definitely been useful, and fun, haha. And had I known I would need this, I would have paid more attention in Maestra's classes. ;)
Ok, enough reminiscing. Time to reminisce back two months to start this journey. Let's see if I can remember.
It seems like it all came so fast... for reals. I remember sitting in Nuria's class and being like, "Only three months till I'm in Spain!" And then I learned Hector was going too! That got me even more excited, glad that I would know someone. Every day, we would talk about visas and plane tickets and how much longer till we left. We were so stoked.
The day finally came to leave, and I don't even know how I felt. I do remember thinking that it was definitely surreal. There was no way that I was getting on a plane and going to a foreign country to live for 4 months, only knowing ONE person. At least we met up with Cory and Catherine.
We get there, nervous out of our wits on where we were going, since we had NO idea. PS the Madrid airport = HUGE. And kind of scary. But there are little green men all over the place, that tell you where to go.
Wow, getting to Spain was quite the ordeal in itself, now to get to the homestay. After waiting for three hours in the airport trying to figure out the best way to get home, we finally decide on getting a shuttle to take Hector and Catherine to theirs, and me to mine. Sola. But I managed to do it, and I was exhausted by the time I got there, so glad to finally sleep in a bed.
School the next day, joy. Thank gosh Raquel is my roommate. That is all I have to say. Without her, I would have never made it that day. You don't even know. I had not a clue as to where school even was.
Luckily we get there on time. Still don't really know anyone except for Hector, Raquel, Cory, and Catherine, and Debbie, who we met in the metro.
When we get to school, we learn that our classes don't start till 11:40. Yes! Until I had that whole mixup with translation and it ended up being at Berzosa, in BFE. Haha. The only good thing about that whole ish was that I met Trish! ("You look like you're from the US... Yeah, San Diego... No way!") Trish is my KDZ homie. We're like this. -Crosses fingers-. Yeah we have the D in common.
Let's see, what else has been of interest. Ireland! Love it. I want to go back. It's amazing.
